Andy Karr Photography

I’m Andy Karr, a freelance photographer and photojournalist focused on documenting both urban and outdoor adventures and cycling culture. I prefer to shoot 35mm color reversal film, but have been known to dabble in black and white and digital photography. My favorite types of shoots are the highest effort kind, and the staff at my local camera shop is often beside themselves with how hard I am on my gear. I was born and raised in North Carolina, where I have deep roots, and am currently residing in Washington, DC.

I do most of my film shooting on 35mm color negative film using the Minolta manual focus system, Nikon F mount system, or my Contax G1. For digital photography I use Fujifilm X bodies and typically shoot in both raw and Fuji’s film simulation jpegs. I get no joy out of post processing and typically do minimal adjustments.

This site is intended to serve as my online portfolio with the full acknowledgment that offroad adventure cycling is a niche within a niche, and analogue photography is also a niche within a niche. Therefore I accept my work and its subjects is a niche within a niche within a niche. I am ok with that, we all have our things and this is mine. I won’t be stressing out about page views, but if you happen upon this site and my work makes you happy, drop me a line as that would make me happy too.
